today felt a bit fever, and started coughing... will it be SARS?? or is it I yesterday ate heaty food?? don't know tomorrow should go work or not... morning woke up and watched the "Interpol" final episode!!! and my whole family watched together!! how amazing is that!! the ending is expected, and the plot is typical and a bit not logical (where got hacker like that hack into system?) , but I enjoyed the process of watching it... just don't know why..



today whole day no mood in doing things except watching TV shows.. 2.30pm, i watched "Super Sunday", 1 of my favourite variety show!! there is this section where Ah Liang will help artist to find people, in this episode, a female old singer is trying to find a kind-hearted bus driver... I like to share this story here, the story goes like this...



the female singer was very poor and can't afford a car, even when she's a superstar, becuase she had to repay her father's debts, so she took public bus as her daily transport..



So every night, she and her sister took the last bus driven by this kind-hearted driver home...

His appearance: always in a neat and tidy uniform, with pure white gloves, always straighten up his back...

His behaviour: very courteous, show care and concern to everyone

His actions:

1. always ensures his passengers are seated well before driving, and never will complain if people take their time to board the bus..

2. always help nedy people, such as old people, pregnant woman, small child to get onto the bus...

3. always ensure that his passengers enjoy a smooth and pleasant ride with no rushing and no skiing of the bus..

4. and he did all these to even complete strangers!!



I could say I respected him very much for his attitute towards his job, he loves his job and does his job to the best, this kind of person nearly extinct in today's society.. (tears drop from my eyes when I'm watching the show, really), after watching the story, I felt so guilty that I neglected those beggars and flag sellers on the streets.. this story arises a lot of lessons I had learnt in the past, be charitable, show care and concern to needy, be satisfy with what you have, love your job and do your job to the best!



hope you learn these lessons also, it's getting late and I think I have to sleep early to regain my immune system, good night!!

today planning to meet at west mall for dinner with my gang. but ended up going to bukit timah market & food centre, dont ask me why!! long story, it's just fate...



then went to Liang's house for our actvities!!! activities includes, playstation 2 session, mahjong session, and movie vcds session.. then sang a birthday song (with cake of course!!) to our beloved Mr. Seah Wei Xiang (oops, am I rude to spell out his name?), the guy who turned 20 this year..



afterwhich we took a long bus trip to suntec for a dinner at congress, and Sebas falled sick.. so he went back home.. hope he's fine...

for those who don't know, Congress is the buffet restaurant located near the exhibition hall, opposite the "high class" coffee shop.. the price is quite quite ex, around $18.50!! provided you have a POSB card lah...(entitled to 15 % discount)... the food there lack of variety, most are made of salmon, not like last time we came here, so we think not worth it... maybe it's salmon season?? who knows? after dinner, we talk about whether to start a IT business, hmm.... maybe but we must take into consideration that we going to NS soon... (really soon, 3 of them got their enlistment letters) afterwhich, we went home, what a day!!

today is my second day of rest at home, yeah!! basically whole day watched TV programmes...



10am "Wan Quan Yu Le", then have lunch, 2.30pm "Wan Quan Yu Le", took a nap, 7pm "Ah-Cheng", 8pm "Ming Zhuan Qing Zhen", 9pm "Mei Wei Qing Yuan", 10pm news, 10.30pm "MVP Valentine" final episode!!! and etc...



today feeling better, and called my gang regarding where to go tomorrow for my good friend, Wei Xiang's birthday and we decided to go Ying Liang's house tomorrow...

today i went to see doctor and took my 1st MC (the MC is for 2 days) during my internship.. don't worry, it's not SARS... doctor said I had a bad sore throat, and also a bit fever... finally have a break from the boring days of programming, and finally I got the chance to watch some TV programmes I had missed, such as "Wan Quan Yu Le", a taiwan entertainment news programme.... at night, my fever worsen... so I told my supervisor, I will not turn out for work the next day...

it's has been a tiring and moody day today...



morning saw a message from my partner, saying he taking MC today, so i expected today will be a boring day without him..as normal, i cheched mail, surf net and done some programming, then debug some of my supervisor's code... (yes! i debug his, not the other way round), then in the afternoon rain heavily.... the progress of owrk is slow because i no mood...



in the afternoon, I asked my usual gang want to meet for dinner tomorrow, and guess what is the reply...

1 say no mood... never mind (he got heart matters, i understand)...

1 say no cash card to go into CBD... never mind...

2 suggested going geylang to eat.... never mind...

the people that say go geylang, told me to go ask others, so I ask them got what to eat?

they just say there is something to eat, and insisted i go ask others...

I ask you lah... how I am going to ASK others to go when Myself is not confident that there is something to eat there?? and when I'm not keen to it?

ok... he say "ASK and no need to PERSUADE, no need to force someone to go"

fine.... I asked in the end, why am I always the one that do this?? why they push all responsibility to me? why no one support me when I suggested something? I'm angry, sad, disappointed and demoralize...



after work, as usaul, eat dinner alone, go HMV, go home.... then felt sick... will be taking MC tomorrow...

yesterday i has been a long day... dam sleepy and shagged!!! so buay tahan.. go sleep liao... so din blog...



after many days of (eating snake)ing... my supervisor came back to office today... and I finally got the urge to program!!



today's task is to program a security feature that kicks a user out when his user id is being used in 2 workstation... this is how I go about doing it...



1. create a table to do logging of user sessions...

2. during login, delete away any previous logs of the user, and create a new log for the user, with his ip address... that means the latest user with same user id that logins will have the access

3. on every page... you have to check if the current user has a matching ip address as the user log, or else, kick that user out (set empty all cookies, redirect to login page)

that's all!!



after work, I went to meet my usual gang of friends... sebas told me that there's something important to announce.... and guess what?? Ying Liang and Wei Xiang is back from HK!!! so glad, happy and suprise to see them doing fine.. and free of diseases... you know why coming back? becuase of the diseases in HK lor... I had a great time talking cock with them, which I haven't in 2 months!! their surprise brighten up my mood... we went for dinner and then a movie at 9.30pm...the movie was "Cradle 2 The Grave", the actions were good, but the plot is bad...



It was 11.30 when the movie ends... and still have to buy groceries when I reach home.... damm shagged... after watching the "Ten Word Road Mouth" (you know what I'm saying)... i buay tahan.. go sleep liao.... zzzZZZZZzZZZzzZZ...

yo!! good morning!! v tired these 2 days.. so didn't have energy to write blogs... this blog is for Sunday, 23/03/2003



wah... slept at 3.30am at saturday, and have to wake up at 7.30am on a Sunday morning!! why?? cause it's Qing Ming Festival, and i'm going to temple with my big family to pay respect to my grandfather who had left us 18 years ago...



the temple is located in punggol, called the Pu Ti Buddhist Temple (Pu Ti Fuo Yuan), where my grandfather's ashes lay... it's damm far from my home... I and my father took 45 mins and 2 buses to reach there.... but consider it's punggol, 45 mins also not long lah.. hhahahhahha... this year a bit special, we usually took one of my uncle's bus (he's boss of a transportation company), to go there.. too bad he's sick...



after so much complains... you might think that I'm a unfillial grandson rite? no lah.. i'm not... I understand that it's important to attend this kind of occasion... and I will try my best to attend, no matter what... sometimes my mum say i too traditional-thinking liao... you know... if ancestors don't give birth to our parents... there wouldn't be us... actually, looking at it.. life as chinese saying says... "life is short short few decades"... most importantly is that we live our life to the FULLEST! and you will die without regrets...



this kind of occassion also serves as a gathering for my big family... i'm glad that see my cousins, uncle and aunties are doing well... and occasionally talk to them...



the sun was damm hot... shine until i very sleepy... and also make me very shag...

then went back home and slept the whole day... until night the n wake up... strange hor?? me is like that 1 lah...

morning wake up early to go to the SMU talk at SP, *yawn*! took away my precious sleeping time... you know.. I din sleep much for a few days... although the talk is optional and I don't have much interest in SMU also, I go there just to get som additional info, because I planning to further studies....



the talk is quite a long 1... it's about 2 hours... but the presenter is the interim dean of School of Information Systems, SMU... he was a good presenter that in the sense that he TRY make the presentation interesting and interactive, but he failed... hahahhaa.. because he don't understand most poly students don't response to questions... hahahha... but the whole presentation looks more like a lecture than a presentation, he took 1 hour to talk about 2 slides!! wah lau.... all right, let's talk about the course he is talking about...



the course is called Bachelor of Science (Information Systems Management) (BSc(ISM))

offered by the School of Information Systems, Singapore Management University..

The advantages:

1. teach you enough knowledge on business and communications skills and how to integrate IT with business

2. have exchange programme with Carnegie Mellon University, who initiates the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), those who took ISNS and INSE before should know what I talking about...)

3. It's a Direct Honours programme

4. you can do double degrees (majoring in 2 areas) if you wish in 4 years' time

5. Applicants with good results in their polytechnic diplomas WILL be considered for Advanced Standing at SMU. Students with Advanced Standing MAY be granted exemptions of up to 5 modules



The disadvantages (what i personally think)

1. too much business modules, I hate business modules, they are almost the same... and you don't need to a degree to do business.. you need ideas and creativity..

2. most of the Core IT modules they offered are repeative as what I learn in SP, for example, OO systems, Data Management, and Software Engineering Process

3. there are much more non-IT modules than IT modules..

4. there are no interesting topics, and what they teach is too general..



personally, i will not choose this course, if u are interested, you may check it out at BSc(ISM) and Admissions Criteria to get into SMU, additional criteria for the course are as follows

1. min C6 in Additional Maths (mathematics modules could also be considered)

2. min. D7 in 2nd Language

3. For your application to be considered, the recommended minimum total score for SAT I is 1200 with at least 500 each for the verbal and math components. (e.g. If your verbal score is 500, then you must have 700 for your math component.)



Additonal info:

1. Deadline for application: 07/04/2003

2. How to apply: apply online at www.smu.edu.sg

3. To be considered for admission in 2003, your SAT I scores must reach SMU by 30 June 2003!

4. To be considered for admission in 2003, the latest SAT 1 test you can take is on 3 May 2003 (registration deadline :28 March 2003)

5. Guys going NS can apply 1st, and SMU will reserve the place for you until you ORD (NUS and NTU also can)



after the talk, i went for lunch alone at SP, FC6.... and thought of all the moments I had with my classmates there.. time flies, amd we graduating... sob...:(, hope that we will remain in contact!! don't forget me!!!



then go orchard walk walk, and saw the Iron Ladies 2 movie will be out on 27th march, which I had long wanted to watch..

today is really a boring day for me at workplace, especially when my partner took a half day leave after lunch... then left with me alone working on the third floor, adding boringness and tiredness to me, and no mood to work, so I surf net for info on Tablet PCs after seeing a Fujitsu roadshow and going bank at Funan, tha's why i come out with some info below...



after work, i went cineleisure to eat dinner alone (again... if you know me well, you will know that my mum have not cook dinner for months, so i had to settle dinner outside), that's when I saw the Yoshinoya promotion and recall that there's a veggie burger promo at BK (Burger King, not boon kiat ok?).. I went to Burger King and ordered a mushroom swiss double meal to spolit myself for the week...



after dinner, i walked around cineleisure and saw a lot of ah lians and ah bengs.. LOLz... and also saw a street dance competition going on there... then suddenly i remembered my partner told me there's a Yang Qian Hua performance at the Heeren at 7pm, it was 6.15pm, so i decided to wait...



then I went to HMV and saw that zhou hua jian's new compilation album, called 329, i think... and it costs $15.95 only! for 3 cds!! i very "gien" to buy liao... but need to consider....



then i went to see Yang Qian Hua's performance, it's v good man! although i only seen she sing 1 song, but she sang LIVE, despite her poor chinese, and she is as she is, very active and hopping around.. then i went straight back home...

yo morning! (although it's 11.37am liao..), today is the 4th day my supervisor had not turn up for work this week, that's why i'm free to blog!! hehehehe, can eat snake again... here i like to share some encounters i met yesterday after work and this morning...



i went to eat dinner alone (as usual) at cineleisure orchard yoshinoya, you know what? the beef bowl is selling at $3 only!! cheap leh... (usual price is $4.10), there is no soup or side dishes or drinks lah... just only the beef and rice, but quite full also... and worth it!



then went to HMV at the Hereen to see got new albums or not... there is a new album called Yang Mei by Yang Qian Hua (Miriam), the songs really quite good, especially the Yang Mei song... also saw another new album, which is the compilation of some Zhou Hua Jian (Emil)'s old songs, I forgot the album name liao (hehehehe), it's in a white cover, and consists of 3 discs at about the price of 1! really a good bargain, but i no money...:( (it's selling at ard $18.90, i think)... some of the songs are my all-time-favourites...



ths morning, and yesterday i heard some news on the war in iraq, really hope the war will end soon...



this morning, i heard a song, which i had been hearing for the week, the name of the song is Tai Tou Wang (raise head and see), sang by a arsing Singapore group called Seven, i'm still finding their album, if any of you all know, please let me know. Seven is a group consisiting of a husband and wife, and they are all-rounded talented, heard that they make the whole album, including, singing, composition, album design and marketing....

wah.. today (17/03) very sleepy whole day... nearly fall asleep on bus on my way home... partly because i yesterday too later sleep liao, I about 4am then, wonder what I am doing at night? you will know soon, I think I tonight also will sleep at that time.... but never mind lah... tomorrow my supervisor not coming to work, so can eat snake whole day! hehehe... and maybe my LO (Liaison Officer), Farooq, will come tomorrow, then can waste time chatting with him... hehehe... but he also don't care about us, never received a call from him for 2 months!!!! until last week he finally called... don't know what's wrong with him, so difficult to contact...

yah.. 1 more thing to add... do you know that Ngeen Ann Polytechnic has their own chinese radio station?? and it's not bad leh... a lot of songs very nice...

in the morning, haven't watch finish my favourite "Interpol" on channel 8, then went to help my friend on her final year project. It was 1.30pm, although the meeting time is 1pm at ngeen ann poly, hehehehe... partly because i overshoot a bus stop to alight...



when i reach there, everything goes fine when i am solving problems in her project, that is using JSP and Java Servlets, until a point i am stuck with a simple thing! i forgot how to get sub string and compare string!! without delay, i ask whether there is any java documentation on her com, there is but i cannot find info on string, never mind.. i ask can access internet? she say forgot to bring LAN card, then got any reference books? dun have...



then a idea strike me! i can ask my friends mah... why i didn't thought of it earlier? Right here, I will like to thank Mr. Chan Hong Hay, Mr. Alvin Tan Boon Boon and Mr. Casper Yap Chong Hwee for their help...



after which, i continued programming until 7pm, that was tiring man...



then i had a dinner at clementi alone (again??), and went to NTUC Fair Price and bakery to buy some groceries, as my mum asked (can you imagine that??), reach home around 9pm, damm tired...
